This pyramidal house designed by the
architect Makoto Tanijiri is quite unusual and non conventional, that’s
not something you see everyday. At first, you could think that it’s a
house from the future but on the contrary, it’s a house inspired by the
earliest houses in Japan architecture.
Apart from its shape, the house is sunk a meter into the ground and the soil from excavations was used to make a kind of barrier all around the house. In fact, the clients wanted something open with natural light but they also wanted to keep their privacy.
The
sunken floor is for the living, kitchen and dining areas, the first
floor is for the bedroom and bathroom and there is also a terrace. The
second floor is the children's bedroom.
